Erasmus+ Project Meeting and Preparatory Visit:2023-1-BG01-KA122-ADU-000144501

On 13-16 November, a team from the Bulgarian Association of Wine Professionals (BAWP) carried out a preparatory visit to Piedmont in order to explore and prepare for the upcoming mobility under the Erasmus+ funded project "Exchange of experience and good practices in the production of natural wine". The working meeting with the partners from EUROFORM RFS was essential for the successful organisation of the main group in April.

Highlights from the visit

Winery visits

The program, prepared by Euroform RFS, included visits to a number of wineries that provided an opportunity for work shadowing and exploration of the setting for the upcoming mobility:

The visits to these wineries provided valuable guidance and confirmed the opportunities for training and work shadowing sessions for the April mobility participants.

Meeting at the University of Gastronomic Sciences

Special attention was drawn to the visit and meeting with the team of the University of Gastronomic Sciences (UNISG) in Pollenzo. The University presented the team from BAWP with various training options, including opportunities for short-term courses and seminars that could be integrated into the April mobility programme.

The BAWP team saw the impressive Wine Bank, which is part of the University's facility. The wines there represent a wide range of Italian varieties and production methods, inspiring many ideas for future projects and collaborations.

The Barolo Wine Museum

The visit also included a visit to the Barolo Wine Museum. The museum provided a rich historical context and deepened the participants' understanding of the development of wine production in the region, which is essential for the upcoming mobility.

Success and prospects

The visit to Piedmont was highly successful and laid a solid foundation for meaningful mobility in April. The meeting with the Euroform partners and visiting the wineries and the University provided valuable information and opportunities to organise a diverse and fruitful programme for the participants.

The training and professional development opportunities offered by the University of Gastronomic Sciences, as well as the unique experience of visiting the wineries and the museum, will contribute significantly to improving the qualifications and skills of Bulgarian wine professionals. These initiatives will enrich their knowledge and strengthen the links and cooperation between Bulgarian and Italian wine producers.
