Bulgaria at ProWein 2026: National Pavilion Showcases Bulgarian Wineries in Düsseldorf
From 15 to 17 March 2026, Bulgaria is participating in ProWein – the world’s leading international trade fair for wines and spirits, held in Düsseldorf, Germany. The country is represented with a national pavilion, organised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, where twenty Bulgarian wineries present their wines made from both local and international grape varieties.
The Bulgarian pavilion stands out with a design that highlights the country’s regional identity. A key visual element is the map of Bulgaria’s wine regions, developed by the Bulgarian Association of Wine Professionals (BAWP). The map presents the nine wine regions of Bulgaria and is accompanied by concise information about Bulgarian viticulture and winemaking, including references to important indigenous grape varieties.
This visual concept is part of the BAWP brochure “Bulgarian Wine at a Glance”, created to introduce the diversity, terroirs and varietal richness of Bulgarian wine to an international professional audience in a clear and accessible way. The association’s ongoing efforts to promote regional identity and indigenous grape varieties are increasingly reflected in the international branding of Bulgaria at major wine exhibitions.
During the exhibition, the Bulgarian pavilion was visited by a delegation led by Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Ivana Murdzheva, who met with the participating producers. The discussions highlighted the importance of developing a national marketing strategy to strengthen the international promotion and visibility of Bulgarian wines.
Deputy Minister Murdzheva also emphasised the importance of building a sustainable varietal structure, with a strong focus on indigenous Bulgarian grape varieties as a key element of the country’s identity and competitive positioning on the global wine market.
An important part of the Bulgarian pavilion programme is the tasting area, curated by Viktor Tsvetanov – wine professional and member of the Bulgarian Association of Wine Professionals.
ProWein traditionally gathers thousands of wine professionals – importers, sommeliers, distributors, journalists and representatives of the hospitality sector, making the exhibition an essential platform for establishing partnerships and expanding market opportunities for Bulgarian wines.
The Bulgarian national pavilion can be visited at Halle 3 / A10.C11, where the participating wineries present the diversity and potential of contemporary Bulgarian winemaking.
The Bulgarian Association of Wine Professionals wishes all participants a successful exhibition and fruitful meetings during ProWein 2026!
